Social Responsibility & Contribution
Social responsibility, one of the fundamental values and most important principles of Athens Vision Medical Center’s business operations, constitutes our contribution to people and to the well-being of Greek society.
By embracing these principles and fully recognizing the sensitivity of the sector we serve—where the gift of health should not be a privilege but a right for every one of our fellow human beings— at Athens Vision we have developed a corporate culture in which we operate responsibly toward all socially vulnerable groups who need and are entitled to better eye care.
According to the definition provided in the Green Paper on Corporate Social Responsibility (European Commission, 2001), “Corporate Social Responsibility is the concept whereby companies integrate social and environmental concerns into their business operations and their interactions with other stakeholders on a voluntary basis, as they recognize that responsible behavior leads to sustainable business success.” (Source: Hellenic Network for Corporate Social Responsibility)
We actively participate in programs and initiatives of broader social interest and support socially vulnerable groups, with a particular focus on children in need of ophthalmological care.
ARK OF THE WORLD
As part of its social contribution, the Athens Vision Medical Institute of Ophthalmology provides FREE eye exams to all child members of the Non-Profit Organization for Special Care and Protection of Mothers and Children “Ark of the World”. In addition, the first-degree relatives of these children are examined at special rates.
AMYMONI
As part of its charitable activities, the Athens Vision Medical Institute of Ophthalmology, following communication with the president of the Panhellenic Association of Parents, Guardians, and Friends of People with Visual Impairments and Additional Disabilities “AMYMONI”, Ms. Paraskevi Bellou, it was decided that all members in need of an eye examination would be examined FREE OF CHARGE by our medical staff. Finally, the relatives of these members enjoy preferential rates.
HERA
With a sense of responsibility, since January 2010 the medical team at the Athens Vision Medical Institute of Ophthalmology has been offering FREE eye exams to all registered members/ children of the Panhellenic Association of Parents and Guardians of People with Severe Visual Impairments “HERA”. In addition, all first-degree relatives of the association’s members enjoy preferential benefits
PANHELLENIC ASSOCIATION OF PEOPLE WITH KERATOCONUS
Following an initiative by Dr. Anastasios Charonis, who specializes in the treatment of keratoconus, a meeting was held with the president of the Panhellenic Association of People with Keratoconus (PASAKE), Mr. Konstantinos Dimitriou, during which it was agreed to provide members with one free annual corneal topography test.
The results of the examinations will help gather data as part of the research being conducted by Athens Vision. The data collected will aid in the treatment of keratoconus.

WORLD SIGHT DAY 2011
As part of World Sight Day, October 13, 2011, the Athens Vision Medical Institute of Ophthalmology, driven by a sense of responsibility and duty, offered a FREE eye exam to people who truly needed it. The eye examinations were organized with great success, and a total of 215 patients were examined.
This initiative is part of the Athens Vision Medical Institute of Ophthalmology’s overall effort to raise public awareness about the causes of blindness and to make everyone aware of the need for regular eye exams as part of preventive (Preventive Medicine). Of course, a single day is not enough to remind us of the need to address such a serious medical issue.
That is why our entire medical team will continue to provide information through various media channels and raise public awareness through relevant informational brochures, initiatives, and other social solidarity actions.
